Abstract

To facilitate and maximize efficiency when reducing the multi-extension FITS data from the GTC’s mid-IR facility instrument, CanariCam (CC), we are developing a package of IDL data reduction routines available to the community. The package consists of both newly and previously written routines, developed and optimized for processing CC imaging and polarimetry data, and is compatible with Gemini T-ReCS and Michelle data. In addition to the basic functions for frame checking and stacking, our package provides a variety of analysis tools frequently used by mid-IR observers, such as frame registration, signal-to-noise measurement, aperture photometry, PSF fitting, etc. Most of these analyses can be made either on a stacked image or on a single nod or chop frame. For polarimetric observations our package calculates the Stokes parameters and visualizes the polarization. All components are integrated into an interactive GUI (Graphical User Interface), so observers can use these functions and tools without detailed knowledge of IDL or the mid-IR FITS file structure. Additional tools like bad pixels correction, jitter correction, etc., are planned for future releases of this package.
