MEGARA (Multi-Espectr�grafo en GTC de Alta Resoluci�n para Astronom�a) is an optical Integral-Field Unit (IFU) and Multi-Object Spectrograph (MOS) designed for the GTC 10.4m telescope in La Palma. Both the IFU and MOS capabilities of MEGARA will provide intermediate-to-high spectral resolution (R=5600, 10000 and 17000).
We are currently working on the MEGARA Preliminary Design (contract already signed by mutual agreement between GRANTECAN and the PI institution) which will go through a non-competitive review in March 2012.
In particular, I would like to talk about the MEGARA Control System which shall provide the capabilities to move the different mechanisms, to readout the data from the detector controller and the necessary routines for the Inspector Panels, the Observing Program Manager tools, the Data Factory and the Sequencer strategies.
An overview of the scope of the different packages that will constitute the MEGARA Control System and the work already done to face the MEGARA Preliminary Design will be shown.
