We present preliminary results on the line emission at Halpha, [NII] and [SII] of a shock of galactic dimensions discovered by us in the Stephan Quintet, a compact group of galaxies. The [SII]/Halpha and [NII]/Halpha line-ratios of the Quintet reveal the extent and the physical conditions of this spectacular shock, one of the largest detected.
