In this talk I will summarize the status of MEGARA, the future optical spectrograph for GTC. MEGARA is a Integral Field Unit and Multi-Object Spectrograph that yields intermediate spectral resolutions (R=5600-17000) and that can work in the entire optical range from 3700 to 9800,AA. It will be installed at the Folded-Cass focus of GTC in 2015. Once completed MEGARA@GTC will provide an unique combination of spatial coverage, spectral resolution and collecting power that allows carrying out the ambitious scientific goals of the MEGARA Science Team.
