Enhancements to the WHT's wide-field multi-object spectrograph, AF2/WYFFOS
Abstract
The 4m-class telescopes continue to complement, and play an important support role for, the science done with the 8-10m-class telescopes such as GTC. One example of this is the capability to perform multi-object spectroscopy over a wide field-of-view.
We describe a programme of enhancements to the WHT's wide-field multi-object spectrograph, AF2/WYFFOS, which includes provision of a new pipeline reduction system, a new red-sensitive, fringe-suppression CCD, and an overall improvement of the instrument's sensitivity.
