Abstract

We propose to conduct a deep photometric survey for for clusters at z~0.2 and z~0.4. Our aim is to explore the evolution of galaxies in dense environments by characterizing the galaxy populations and their degree of activity. We also want to measure the variations in metallicity and age for galaxies according to their cluster-centric position. For this aim we have made a careful selection of 5 SHARDS filters + Gunn´s U to emulate the uvby-Strömgren system redshifted to z=0.2 and z=0.4. Data collected in project will serve to determine galaxy morphology using colors and surface brightness distribution analysis. Our aim is to explore the growth of bulges and its relation to the Butcher-Oemler Effect. GTC+OSIRIS+SHARDS filters will uniquely allow us to trace galaxy transformations in clusters within the last 4 Gyrs.
