Validating the smallest CoRoT candidates with PASTIS: radial-velocity constraints

Radial velocity follow-up is the most-used technique to establish the planetary nature of CoRoT transiting candidates by measuring their mass. However, the limitation of current spectrographs, in terms of photon noise or instrumental stability, does not allow us to characterize the smallest CoRoT candidates that orbit relatively faint stars. A new tool, called PASTIS, has been developed in Marseille to validate the planetary nature of a candidate, taking the advantage of the high quality of CoRoT space-borned photometry. In this process, PASTIS uses also the data from the radial velocity follow-up that has been obtained for the majority of CoRoT candidates. In this talk, I will discuss how radial velocity data can be used to constrain false-positive scenarios. I will also mention the additional constrains that we will be included in PASTIS in a near future. I will finally discuss how PASTIS will be used to prepare the future follow-up of the smallest CoRoT candidates with the ESPRESSO spectrograph.
