The correct use of separation ratios of stelar p-modes as a diagnostic of stellar interiors
Abstract
The ratios of small to large separation of stellar p-modes provide a diagnostic of stellar interiors. We point out that this is only the case if the ratios of an observed frequency set are compared with those of a model frequency set at the same frequencies - not at the same $n,ell$ values. We provide an algorithm for doing this.
