Accommodation
Hotel bookings must be made by the participants directly with the hotel. Special rates are offered by some hotels, as detailed below (please mention “CONGRESO IAC JULIO 2011” in your booking request).
All the hotels listed below have air-conditioning and swimming pools. Please, bear in mind that to attend lunch and dinner at any Spanish hotel you are not allowed to wear shorts.
Distance to the conference venue
To make your choice, bear in mind that the venue is 20 minutes from the beach on a hill, and there is quite a difference in altitude, so that walking back can be a bit strenuous. There will be buses at the beginning and end of each conference day. Taxis are quite cheap, 3 to 4 euros from the beach to the venue. This photograph can give you an idea of the location of the hotels relative to the venue and the town centre. Summing up:
- If you want to stay very close to the venue (just 5 minutes walking), Hotel Atalaya Playa and Hotel Tigaiga are within walking distance from the conference centre. Both are 4-star hotels with swimming pool. Hotel Atalaya has a minibus every hour to the beach.
- If you prefer to stay close to the beach, Hotel Bahía Príncipe San Felipe, Hotel Beatriz Atlantis & Spa, Hotel H10 Tenerife Playa and Hotel Valle Mar are located on the seafront - but, as explained above, going to the venue is a 20-30 minutes walk uphill (1.5 km walking, or 2.0 km by taxi). A shuttle service will be provided to and from the venue at the beginning and end of each conference day.
- Hotel Las Águilas is a new hotel, located on a mountain with superb views, but somewhat far from both the beach and the conference center, being located 2.6 km from the conference venue (2.2 km walking). An hourly shuttle service will be available, which will leave you within walking distance (5 min.) of the venue.
