Variation in the alpha Prescription in Accretion Disks
Abstract
Simulation on accretion disks in binary dwarfs is often modeled using the alpha prescription. It usually treats the dynamic viscosity coefficient as a constant term. This implies that with a local dependent alpha coefficient, it would obtain superficial density instabilites that could increase the accreted mass toward the compact star. This work uses a parametrization on the viscosity coefficient in the alpha prescription, assuming a dependence with the local disk temperature, using a two dimensional SPH code. Works in the literature has shown tha this instablities might be the cause of the flare state on this kind of binaries.
