Miquel A. Pericàs

Miquel A. Pericàs es Director del Instituto Catalán de Investigación Química (ICIQ) y Catedrático de Química Orgánica de la Universidad de Barcelona.

Miquel A. Pericàs is Director of the Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ) and Full Professor in Organic Chemistry of the University of Barcelona.

Miquel A. Pericàs group works in the fields of organic and organometallic chemistry. His interests focus mainly on the development of polymer-supported catalysts with high induced stereoselectivity and extended life cycle. The ultimate goal of this research is the development of single-pass, catalytic and enantioselective flow versions of the most relevant processes for organic synthesis, contributing in this manner to a more sustainable practice of chemical synthesis. The Pericàs laboratory has been pioneer in this effort, being recognized as one of the leaders in the field.

Miquel A. Pericàs has authored or co-authored some 265 scientific publications and 25 patents. He is a recipient of the Distinció de la Generalitat de Catalunya per a la Promoció de la Recerca Universitària award, the Janssen-Cylag award of the Spanish Royal Society of Chemistry for research in organic chemistry and, the Narcís Monturiol Medal of Generalitat de Catalunya for Scientific and Technological Merits, among other awards.
