Pere Buhigas Cardó

Pere Buhigas was born in Barcelona in 1958. He has a degree in Journalism and a technical engineering degree in Telecommunications. He began his professional career in Radio Juventud in Barcelona in 1979, and then spent several years in Radiocadena Española in the Balearics. He was then director of the radio stations of Radio Nacional de España in Ponferrada, Salamanca, Lleida, and Tarragona. He has also been News director of this radio network in Catalonia. From 1996 he has been working in the Programme Production Centre of Televisión Española in Sant Cugat del Vallès, where he has assumed a number of posts both on camera and behind the scenes, of which the most important were as deputy director and then director of the News Services of TVE in Catalonia.

At the present time he directs and presents the science outreach programme Lab24 on the 24h Channel and the International Channel of TVE. He has specialized in the treatment of information in medium of TV. He is Associate Professor at the International University of Catalonia since 2002, and is preparing his doctoral thesis about the regional stations of the national public TV system.
