Manel Martínez
Manel Martínez is the Scientific Director of the Severo Ochoa program at IFAE and coordinator of the Very High Energy Gamma Ray Astronomy Group.
Prof. Dr. Manel Martínez is a renowned expert in experimental particle physics and astrophysics. He was the founder of the Very High Energy Gamma Ray Astronomy group at IFAE and the co-founder of the Dark Energy Group at IFAE. He is the leader of the Spanish Very High Energy Gamma Ray Astronomy community and has been the promoter of the Spanish involvement in the international project of the Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA) and, more recently, in the space mission GAMMA-400. At the international level Prof. Dr. Martínez has been the spokesperson of the MAGIC telescopes and co-spokesperson of the CTA Project. Previously he had an important participation in different experiments like the Mark-J in the e+e- collider PETRA at the Deutches Elektronen SYnchrotron (DESY) in Hamburg, the ALEPH experiment in the e+e- collider LEP at CERN in Geneva, the Dark Energy Survey (DES) at the Cerro Tololo (Chile), among others. At the present time he is expert at the Infrastructure Commission of the FPA program of the MINECO.
