Carmen Castresana

 

Carmen Castresana is the Scientific Director of the Severo Ochoa Centre of Excellence Programme at the CNB. She is CSIC Research Professor and acted for several years as Head of the Plant Molecular Genetics Department, Vice-Director and Director of the CNB. Her research group identified novel genes and signalling molecules that confer plants the capacity to cope with diseases that are still the most costly and growth limiting factors in agricultural production and food supply. Carmen Castresana was elected Member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the European Plant Biotechnology Network, Member of the Directing Board of the Spanish Society of Biotechnology, Member of the Directing Board of the Spanish Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and Member of the Molecular Biology and Biomedicine Advisory Committee of the CSIC.
