Galactic Dynamo Simulations
D. Elstner and O. Gressel

Abstract

Recent simulations of supernova driven turbulence in the ISM verified the existence of a large scale dynamo. With a growth time of about 200 million years the dynamo is quit fast in contradiction to many assertions in the literature. Details of the models will be presented.
With the adopted turbulence coefficients global mean field models are discussed.
The results are compared to global simulations with the magneto-rotational instability.
