Registration instructions

The school is primarily intended for PhD students and recent postdocs in any field of research in Astronomy. Those interested in attending should register using the online form below. Once registered, please log in to your personal area and upload your Curriculum Vitae, brief motivation letter (one page max) and (optionally) information on your contributed poster. In addition, we request a letter of reference from your thesis advisor (or Head of Department) to be sent by email to the Winter School Secretariat. All information should be submitted to the IAC not later than 30 June 2019. Selected candidates will be informed by mid July and instructions on how to proceed with the payment of the registration fee will then be sent.

The registration fee is 400 € (including the full cost of the excursion to the observatory on the island of La Palma). Instructions for the payment of the fee will be sent with the confirmation of attendance.

limited number of grants may be provided by the organization to cover part of the costs. Those applicants requiring grants may fill in the corresponding form in the personal area, once registered. The registration deadline for applying to financial support is 15 June 2019. The participants awarded any grants will be informed by mid July.

Attendance requires a registration fee, which covers:

  • Welcome cocktail
  • Morning and afternoon coffee during the lecture days
  • Lunch at the school venue
  • Conference dinner
  • Visit to the Teide observatory, Tenerife, on November 26th (date to be confirmed)
  • Visit to the Roque de Los Muchachos Observatory, on November 23rd

A day trip to the Roque de los Muchachos Observatory (La Palma) will be organized on Saturday 23 November. The trip includes the return flight from Tenerife to La Palma, bus transfers, lunch and a guided tour of the main telescopes. It is a full day trip, and we do not expect to be back in Tenerife before 20:30 or so.
