Friday, July 12th: Excursion to Teide Observatory (OT) in Tenerife, from 14:00 to 20:00 hours. (Google Maps link)

Departure is scheduled at 14:15 after lunch, leaving from Campus Guajara.

We are planning a visit to the following facilities: IAC80, Telescopio Carlos Sánchez, Solar Laboratory and Cúpula de visitantes where some interesting and nice movies will be projected and a few portable solar telescopes, with H-alpha filters, will be installed to observe our Sun. In case we have time, a visit to the CMB experiment Quijote and to the solar tower VTT are also planned (TBC). The observatory is at 2400 m altitude and solar radiation is extreme. Typical maximum day-time temperature is 10-15 degrees, and it may be foggy although in July this is very unlikely. So we recommend you take long-sleeve clothes, hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen and lip balm. You should wear sturdy shoes and bring a jacket.

Return to Guajara Campus is scheduled at 20:00.

 

Saturday, July 13th: Excursion to Roque de los Muchachos Observatory (ORM) in La Palma, from 8:00 to 21:00 hours (Google Maps link). Reserve your place using this form.

You will be able to visit the following telescopes: MAGIC, GTC and WHT. Lunch will be served at the ORM residence. The observatory is at 2400 m altitude and solar radiation is extreme. Typical maximum day-time temperature is 10-15 degrees, and it may be foggy although in July this is very unlikely. So we recommend you take long-sleeve clothes, hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen and lip balm. You should wear sturdy shoes and bring a jacket.

Flight information:

Departure from TFN to SPC. Flight number NT 607, leaving at 8:00 in the morning and landing at 8:30. Please, reach the airport at least one hour before the taking off. 

Return from SPC to TFN. Flight number NT 638, leaving at 19:00 in the evening and landing at 19:30.

These are national flights but you will pass standard airport security control and will need to take your passport.
