Abstract
We present two dimensional observations of emission line properties of the ionized gas in the nearly face-on spiral galaxy, NGC 628. Our high resolution observations allow a detailed diagnosis of the physical state of the hot interstellar gas in this galaxy, and we are able to study the properties of the star forming gas as a function of galactocentric radius. Moreover, we are able to study local kinematical properties in order to find possible presence of correlations with the large scale dynamics of the interstellar gas, as well as the presence and magnitude of vertical motions in the disk.
