Photometric and spectroscopic study of the stellar populations in the Large Magellanic Cloud
A. Mucciarelli, F.R. Ferraro, E.Carretta,L.Origlia,F.Fusi PecciAbstract
Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) provide a interesting globular
cluster population that cover a large range of age, metallicity and
integrated colors. These objects can be used as good tracers of
chemical evolution of LMC. Unfortunaly actually we dont possess
homogeneous reliable age and metallicity scale for LMC clusters and
the effective shape of age-metallicity relation (AMR) is already not
clear. We present the first results from our photometric-spectroscopic
survey devoted to unveil the correct AMR for LMC.
Our main results are : (i) the determination of detailed
chemical abundances ([Fe/H], $\alpha$-elements,
Fe-peak elements...) using high-resolution UVES@FLAMES spectra
and (ii) the determination of accurate age based on direct measurement
of the Main Sequence Turn-Off level in high-quality Color Magnitude Diagrams
for six globulars selected from our database.
