Galaxy sample at intermediate redshifts (0.2 $<$ z $<$ 0.8): photometric properties and stellar populations

Abstract
Clusters of galaxies have played a significant role on the study of the environmental influences of the evolution and properties of galaxies such as their stellar content. In particular, cluster members reveal different stellar populations when compared to field galaxies and different galaxy properties as a function of redshift. In this study, we present photometric and spectroscopic properties of a galaxy sample at intermediate redshifts (0.2 $<$ z $<$ 0.8) detected in the field of galaxy cluster LCDCS-S001. Images and spectra were obtained with the multi-object spectrograph on the 8m Gemini South Telescope. The i' and r' images centered on the cluster coordinates have a field of 5´ x 5´. GIM2D (Simard et al. 2002) was used to determine the integrated i' and r' magnitudes and to fit a two-dimensional bulge+disc model to the surface brightness distribution of the objects. Spectral features were identified and used to determine the redshift of each galaxy. Besides field galaxies we detected a minor group of galaxies, centered at z$=0.75$. We have measured the Lick indices of absorption lines, such as, Ca I $\lambda$ 4227, Fe I $\lambda$ 4531 and H$\beta$ $\lambda$ 4861, and used to perform stellar population synthesis of the galaxy sample. The stellar population of field intermediate redshift galaxies and cluster members were compared.
