SOCIAL PROGRAMME FOR ACCOMPANYING PERSONS AND VISITS TO OTHER ISLANDS


The following accompanying persons programme details organised tours and visits to other islands in the Archipelago, or towns and attractions in Tenerife. Each item indicates tour location, dates when it is available, price and duration as well as a short description of the activities involved. Groups will be accompanied at all times by English speaking local guides.

Prices include all transfers, and meals (1 US dollar ~ 140 pesetas).

For reservations please fill in the form provided below. This form will be sent to Viajes Archipielago (varchipielago@step.es). Last minute bookings can also be made during the conference, subject to availability of places on the tours. Any question should be directed to Mr. José Negrín, Viajes Archipielago. Please note that the LOC is not responsible for these excursions, and that their organization relies on the local travel agency.

Island of Lanzarote

Very early bus transfer from Hotel to airport (approx. 6 am). Arrival in Lanzarote and departure towards the towns of Puerto del Carmen, Macher, Uga (stop for breakfast), Yaiza, Salinas del Janubio, Los Hervideros, el Golfo, Montaña del Fuego (including camel ride), tour of the Timanfaya National Park, Isle of Hilario, and volcanoes. Lunch at Yaiza followed by tour of Geria (vineyards on the Island). Visit to typical local bodega and wine tasting. From here, and through the village of Teguise, to Mirador del Rio, the highest point on the Island. Spectacular views of of the Isle of Graciosa and other Islets. Transfer through Pueblo de Ye, to Jameos del Agua (including a visit), followed by Punta Mujeres, Guatiza and Arrecife. Then on to airport for return flight. Bus transfer back to hotel.

Island of La Gomera

Bus transfer from Hotel to the Port of Los Cristianos (south of Tenerife) for departure to San Sebastian de La Gomera by Ferry. From there on to Garajonay National Park, via the Mirador "Degollada de Peraza". Then on to villages of Las Rosas and Agulo (break for lunch), through the national park. After lunch, a stop at the visitors centre "Juego de Bolas", with an exhibition on the history of the island and local crafts. Return to port through the Hermigua Valley, and a stop in San Sebastián to visit the Torre del Conde and Casa de Colón. Ferry trip and transfer back to hotel.

Orotava - Icod - Garachico (Tenerife)

Bus transfer from Hotel towards La Orotava. Visits to the Casa de los Balcones (specialising in hand made tapestry and embroidery), the Church, Town Hall, the Liceo. Transfer to Garachico. Bathing or basking in natural sea pools, visits to the Caleton and village. Transfer to Icod to visit the Dragon Tree and San Marcos Church. Return to Puerto de La Cruz.

Boat Ride (South of Tenerife)

Transfer from Hotel to Los Cristianos. Boat ride to view dolphins and whales in their natural habitat. Catamaran sails towards the coast of Masca (typical canarian village on the west coast of the Island). Bathing. Return to Puerto de la Cruz.

Santa Cruz - Candelaria (Tenerife)

Bus transfer from Hotel towards La Candelaria, a small town on the south coast famous for its Church. Visit to the Basílica and sculptures of the Menceyes (the Guanche kings). Transfer to Santa Cruz (main city in Tenerife). Free time in town centre for shopping and sightseeing (Church of La Conception, Natural History museum etc). Bus transfer back to hotel.

Loro Parque (Tenerife)

Bus transfer from Hotel to Loro Parque, on the outskirts of Puerto de la Cruz. Attractions in the park: Gorillas, bats, sea lions, parrot show, crocodiles, tigers, dolphin show, aquarium, flamingos, a spectacular selection of live parrots and tropical birds from all over the world, with detailed explanations of origin, history, reproduction and migratory habits, etc.
