The updated Preliminary Scientific Programme schedule is provided below. Invited reviews (I), contributed talks (C), and posters will be presented. Invited reviews are assigned 30 minutes talk plus 10 minutes for questions and discussion, while contributed talks span 15+5 minutes. We would appreciate speakers adjusting the duration of their talks accordingly. The workshop will be divided into morning and afternoon sessions. Five of these time periods will be arranged as plenary sessions with a sequence of talks devoted to a particular topic. These five selected topics are:
The Formation of Stars and Planets
Advances in Solar Physics
Chemical Abundances as Diagnostic of Stellar Structure
Unsolved Problems in Stellar Activity
Impact of Space Missions on Cool Stars
The remaining two time slots will be arranged as parallel discussion sessions. The spirit of the these discussion sessions will the be same as for the last three Cool Stars meetings, with a moderator to organize the session and keep it moving, a panel of "experts" to raise questions and suggest answers, and frequent opportunities for contributions from the audience. During each time slot, there will be two concurrent discussion sessions. The four discussion topics will be:
Magnetic Fields in Cool Stars
Ages, Distances, and the Initial Mass Functions of Stellar Clusters
Understanding the Role of Binarity on Mass Loss and Atmospheric structure in Detached Systems
Prospects of the Research on Cool Stars with Very-Large Telescopes and New Developments in Instrumentation
A third afternoon session will be dedicated to a review by several members of the SOC of a group of posters that they have selected from the display, to promote an open discussion on several topics which can be considered of special relevance in this meeting.
Morning sessions will last from 9:00 am to 1:30 pm, with a 30 min coffee break at 11:00 am. Afternoon sessions will last from 4:00 to 5:30 pm, followed by a coffee/soda service and open time for poster viewing. You can retrieve an ASCII file of this schedule here.
