Overview

The purpose of this congress, sponsored by the RADIOFOREGROUNDS H2020 project (GA 687312), is to discuss the science goals and current status of CMB polarization experiments aiming to detect the imprint of primordial gravitational waves as B-mode patterns. We will put special emphasis on our current understanding of the modelling of the galactic and extragalactic foregrounds. It is widely recognised that those foreground signals will be the major limiting factor for the possible constraints on the existence of primordial B-modes. Their knowledge will be critical for optimizing the design of next-generation CMB experiments to maximize their science return.

Sessions in the meeting will cover these topics:

  • Current observational status - CMB polarization experiments.
  • Galactic modelling I: thermal dust.
  • Galactic modelling II: synchrotron and anomalous microwave emission.
  • Extragalactic modelling.
  • Component separation methods.
  • Sky models and forecast for future missions.

After the meeting, on October 19th, we will have a separated workshop on anomalous microwave emission.
