High-z Protocluster Candidates in COSMOS

Malte Brinch

Abstract

We construct Overdensity maps in the COSMOS field with multiple bins between redshift 6 to 10 using the newest version of the COSMOS catalogue, COSMOS2020, to search for protocluster candidates. We select a robust sample of galaxies with good agreement between two SED fitting codes to reduce bias. We find 15 significant overdensities with 5 or more galaxies at the 4 sigma level. These galaxies are at the center of their respective overdensities and appear mainly to be main sequence galaxies with a few notable exceptions. The total SFR for the protocluster candidates appear similar to the ones found by searching for Lyman alpha emitters.
