Accommodation

Participants are encouraged to find accommodation as soon as they receive confirmation of participation. There are several hotels in La Laguna and in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. For your convenience, we have blocked a limited number of rooms in hotels close to the conference venue. However, you should know that Tenerife is a very popular touristic destination and we strongly advise you to book as soon as soon as possible. We expect that some of the hotels that we are offering will be sold our several months before the conference dates, and we cannot guarantee availability for the late petitions. Bellow is the booking form for the hotels with  blocked rooms by the organization

Below is a list of some other options. More can be found online.

La Laguna

Santa Cruz de Tenerife

Lecturers will stay at the Laguna Nivaria hotel.

Additionally, there are several hostels and B&B for more modest budgets. Some examples, all in La Laguna downtown, are listed below:

Other accommodation options are available in Santa Cruz (20 minutes by tram from the school venue):

Flying to Tenerife

There are two airports on the island of Tenerife, one on the north side (Tenerife Norte, TFN, also known as Aeropuerto de Los Rodeos) and the other one on the south of the island (Tenerife Sur, TFS, also known as Aeropuerto Reina Sofía). Both airports are at about 2.5 hours flying time from Madrid, and about 3 hours from Barcelona. San Cristóbal de La Laguna lies 5 km from TFN, and 65 km from TFS, with a motorway link covering the full journey in both cases. The easiest access is from the northern airport along the TF-5 motorway, and it takes about 10 min.

TFN handles mostly inter-island and domestic flights, with several daily connections to Madrid and Barcelona. If you connect there you may fly to TFN. TFS handles mainly tourist and low-cost flights, offering a large number of direct connections to many airports across Europe.

Public transports in Tenerife

The local bus company is called TITSA. Buses are bright green, and the local name for the bus is guagua. The metropolitan area, including the capital, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, and San Cristóbal de La Laguna, is served by two tram lines operated by Metro Tenerife. Line 1 has a frequency of one tram every 5 minutes (every 7 minutes outside rush hours), and is the main connecting line between the two cities. Tram tickets can be bought from the machine at every tram stop, and must be validated once in the tram. There is also an option to buy cheaper tickets using the intuitive mobile app, ten+movil. The app ten+movil, once installed and registered, allows to add money to a virtual wallet by credit card or by buying credit at ticket machines. It offers 20% discount on tram and bus tickets.

From Tenerife South Airport to your hotel

You can either take a taxi (for about 80 €) or bus number 111 from TFS (leaving every 30 minutes) to Santa Cruz de Tenerife (Intercambiador, the main bus terminal). Updated departure times can be consulted on the TITSA webpage. You can buy the  ticket (cash only, around 10 euros) on the bus. Make sure you take bus 111 in the direction Intercambiador S.ta Cruz. The bus desk is located at the extreme north side, and the bus stop is just outside of the Arrivals terminal. The journey to Santa Cruz bus station is about 50 minutes long.

From there, the most convenient option to reach La Laguna is to take the tram as the end of the line is in the very city center of La Laguna. As you exit the bus terminal station in Santa Cruz (East exit facing to the sea) you may see the tram station on the other side of the road. Your destination is La Trinidad, the other end of Line 1. Buy your tram ticket from the machine before you board and validate it once you enter the tram.

Alternatively, a taxi from the bus terminal station of Santa Cruz to La Laguna costs about 16 €. Most taxis accept payments with credit or debit card, others only with cash. Ask before you board if this is critical.

From Tenerife North Airport to your hotel

If the hotel is located in La Laguna, we recommend to take a taxi, as it will cost less than 10 €. Most taxis accept payments with credit or debit card, others only with cash. Ask before you board if this is critical. Alternatively, bus numbers 102, 107 and 108 will take you to the bus terminal in La Laguna. Bus tickets can be bought on the bus (cash only). To get to the taxi rank at TFN airport, go right after arriving and look for the (English-speaking) taxi concierge. To get to the bus station, turn left and after about 50 meters right and down the ramp.

If the hotel is located in Santa Cruz, bus number 20 to Intercambiador S.ta Cruz runs regularly all day. The fastest way of reching the city centre from Intercambiador is the tram. A taxi from TFN airport to Santa Cruz costs around 20 €.

Changing money

The most recommendable way to obtain money is by withdrawal from any of the numerous cash-dispensing machines.

There is a bank within the international arrivals lounge at the TFS Airport which operates daily till 2:00 PM except Sundays and public holidays. If you are travelling through Madrid or Barcelona, the exchange bureau opens there round the clock. However, NO currency exchange facilities are available in TFN Airport.

Many banks are available in La Laguna, and open Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 13:00. Credit cards are widely accepted in Spain, in restaurants, hotels, etc.

Dining

There are a number of nice restaurants to have lunch or dinner in La Laguna.
