Rationale

The SO/PHI Instrument on Solar Orbiter is a deep space vector magnetograph with two telescopes that provide magnetic, brightness, and velocity information on the full solar disk (Full Disk Telescope, FDT) and at high resolution of a part of the disk (High Resolution Telescope, HRT). Together with the unique orbit of Solar Orbiter, this combination of telescopes allows gaining exciting insights into many aspects of the solar magnetic field and magnetoconvection. Roughly four years after the start of the nominal science phase of Solar Orbiter and about half a year after the beginning of its out-of-ecliptic phase the SO/PHI team invites you to attend the first SO/PHI science meeting taking place on the island of Tenerife, in La Laguna, between 3 and 5 December 2025. Interested members of the community are kindly invited to attend, listen to, or make presentations on the science results achieved involving SO/PHI data, learn about or share ideas for new projects, and make use of the informal workshop format and atmosphere to start new projects and collaborations. It is also an excellent opportunity to get to know the experts in the SO/PHI science team, whom you may ask questions on how to correctly use SO/PHI data or to combine them with data from other instruments.

Topics

In addition to the science meeting, a SO/PHI team meeting will take place between 1 and 2 December 2025. Members of the SO/PHI team are invited to register for this in addition to the science meeting.

Venue of the science meeting, starting in the afternoon of 3 December until late afternoon of 5 December: Museo de la Ciencia y el Cosmos, La Laguna, Tenerife, Spain.

Venue of the SO/PHI and PMI team meeting, between 1 December and midday of 3 December: Instituto de Astrofisica de Canarias, La Laguna, Tenerife, Spain.
