"Use of climate models for climate change investigations"
The ability of climate models to simulate the present day climatology is investigated, limitations due to a lack of observational data will be shown. Simulations with atmospheric models forced with changing observed sea surface temperatures and greenhouse gas concentrations of the 20th century are compared with observations to demonstrate the models ability to react to changing boundary forcings. Finally simulations with coupled atmosphere-ocean models will be investigated. Possible future climates using different scenarios will be discussed. The study will concentrate on the precipitation because it is the key variable for the society..
