Observations of flux emergence events in the quiet Sun
L.R. Bellot Rubio

Abstract

The quiet solar photosphere evolves rapidly. Part of this evolution is
due to magnetic flux that continuously emerges into the surface and
interact with the preexisting fields. Flux emergence events are very
frequent in both network and internetwork regions and occur on small (granular) scales. They are often associated with surges and transient brightenings in the chromosphere and corona, providing an efficient means to couple the various layers of the solar atmosphere. In this talk I will present high resolution observations of flux emergence events at very small spatial scales and their effects on the chromosphere and corona. I will pay special attention to ephemeral regions as the main source of flux for the photospheric network, as well as to vertical granular fields and magnetic loops in the quiet Sun internetwork.
