INSTITUTO DE
ASTROFISICA DE CANARIAS
Girona Conference
Blazars, Black Holes and Jets
9-12th September 1996
Girona, Spain
What types of presentation are available?
You can choose from 3 formal presentation styles and 1 informal:
-
Long talks: these will be 20 minutes each with question time whose
length is at the
discretion of the session Chair. Only a limited number will be programmed.
If more people wish to present a long talk than there are places available the Scientific Advisory Committee will select which talks should be presented and
will invite the rest to be presented as...
-
Short talks: if you want to give a talk, but feel that 20 minutes is
too much, as many short talks of 12 minutes duration will be included in the
programme is possible in the time available. Again, the session Chair will
decide how long to permit questions afterwards.
-
Posters: will be encouraged. We have a large amount of space available to us and are happy for people to bring several posters if they wish.
Those talks that cannot be programmed, for lack of time, will be sceduled as
poster presentations.
The informal presentation style is within our workshop session on
the final afternoon. Each participant will select a session that he/she wishes
to participate in from the list that is provided. Each session, in its own
small meeting room, will be arranged with a session Chair who will control the
discussion. In an informal atmosphere, with coffee and cakes provided, you may
present results briefly (these sessions are suitable for very provisional
results that you would like to discuss, but perhaps not in front of everyone)
as slides or transparencies. If you have something to present, please contact the session Chair. These workshop sessions are to talk, argue, discuss and
hopefully come to some conclusions about what has been presented and the way
that future work should go. The session Chair will summarise the discussion
in his session in an article in the proceedings.
How many presentations can I make?
There is a limit of 1 oral presentation per person, except for exceptional
reasons which must be justified.
You may though, present as many posters as you want, within reasonable
limits. You can be first author on all the posters that you wish to present.
If you want to present various posters, please send the registration form
once for each presentation. When you send your second registration
form though, please just fill in your name and address and leave other details
blank.
Are the proceedings going to be published?
Yes, although we have not yet decided between several offers. We are hoping
that the proceedings will be published as a refereed volume.
