Presentation

We are pleased to announce the workshop "From Fake News to Real Clusters: The Controversial Fate of High-z Galaxy Protoclusters" which will take place from May 13 to 16, 2025, at the IACTEC building near the IAC headquarters in San Cristóbal de La Laguna, Canary Islands, Spain. This meeting will bring together ~30 researchers actively working on protoclusters and large-scale structures at high redshifts, fostering discussions on the latest discoveries from multiwavelength observations and advanced modeling techniques.

The workshop particularly aims at engaging early-career and non-established researchers to strengthen the ties within the community that will shape the future of this field in the coming years. Some of the key questions we aim to address include:

  1. Should we care about high-z overdensities? Why?

  2. Are their extreme observational properties a common evolutionary phase or just rare exceptions?

  3. How much does the environment really shape high-z galaxy populations?

  4. What missing pieces should we aim for in the near future?

Participation is by invitation only. The allocated time for each talk will be ~30 minutes, including questions. Talks will primarily be scheduled in the mornings and early afternoons (until ~3:30 pm), leaving time for collaborative work, project discussions, brainstorming, or leisure in the afternoons. The venue will remain open until 6:00 pm, with a suitable working space available. The organizers will cover registration fees as well as coffee and lunch breaks, and the workshop's social events.
