All social events are free for the participants.
The reception cocktail will take place in the Hotel Taburiente Playa (Los Cancajos) after the scientific sessions on Monday 9th of April 2018 at 19:00.
The Cabildo de La Palma will offer a Reception to all participants on Thursday 12th of April 2018 at 20:00 at the Museo Insular de La Palma, just after the ceremony where Prof. S. Ting will be awarded a star in the “Paseo de las Estrellas de la Ciencia” (see details here).
On Friday 13th of April 2018 there will be an organised visit to the Roque de los Muchachos Observatory (ORM) of La Palma.
This includes:
bus ride to the Observatory from Hotel Taburiente (Los Cancajos) and back
visit to the Observatory
refreshments (coffee and lunch) at the Observatory
Departure time from Hotel Taburiente (Los Cancajos): the buses leave at 09:00.
Return time to Los Cancajos: we should be back in Los Cancajos before 6 pm. Participants who want to attend the visit are encouraged either to stay in La Palma that night or to book a late flight to Tenerife/Gran Canaria to connect from there with flights towards mainland Europe.
The ORM is 2200 m above sea-level in a mountain environment. Please wear comfortable shoes and clothes and take a jacket with you, as it can get chilly at this time of the year (ING's weather station). In case you normally get dizzy in mountain bus rides, please take appropriate medication with you.
