Code of conduct
The Local Organising Committee is committed to ensuring a productive, inclusive, and enjoyable school for everyone. This Code of Conduct aims to provide a safe and respectful environment, which must be observed at all times: in the school venues, hotels, and during social activities.
All participants are expected to adhere to this code of conduct that must be read prior to the start of the school. Please refrain from joining the meeting if you expect not to comply with any of the following guidelines:
Professional behaviour and respect
All participants must behave professionally and courteously toward others, including attendees, organizers, and support staff. Equality must prevail regardless of age, ethnicity, gender, marital status, disability, nationality, political affiliation, pregnancy, religion, sexual orientation, or any other protected characteristic. Derogatory comments or discrimination related to the physical appearance/clothes/external characteristic of any person involved in the school will not be tolerated.
Scientific discussions are encouraged but must remain respectful. Abuse of power, insults, offensive comments, or discriminatory remarks will not be tolerated regardless of the academic position and scientific opinions of the interlocutors. Organizers will guarantee this point is observed during the sessions. Critique ideas, not people.
Harassment
Harassment includes, but is not limited to: threats, deliberate intimidation, humiliating or offensive comments, verbal abuse, inappropriate physical contact, sexual advances or innuendo, stalking, and photography or recording without consent. Harassment can occur once or repeatedly and will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Participants asked to stop any inappropriate behaviour are expected to comply immediately. Serious violations may result in dismissal from the school at the sole discretion of the organizers, and legal actions may be considered.
Communication
All communication should be appropriate for a professional audience, considering the diverse backgrounds of participants. Racist, sexual, or sexist language or imagery is strictly prohibited. Participants should be mindful not to exclude anyone from discussions, work-related tasks, or social activities.
Purple contacts
Purple contacts will be present and easily identifiable by the colour of their badge. Participants are encouraged to report any violation of this Code confidentially. Contact points are trained to handle reports and will provide guidance while respecting the privacy and wishes of the reporting person.
