Grants.

    Dear colleagues,

    In November 15th 1998 time was up for the submission of grant applications for the Oxford VI and SEAC 99 Conference on "Astronomy and Cultural Diversity".

    21 proposals were submitted. As a matter of fact, the LOC had undertaken the offer of at least 10 full grants depending on the final budget. Fotunately, we have got that financing and we are able to offer those 10 grants.

    In a LOC Meeting (last April), a special committe was appointed to study and select the best candidates and works to get those grants.
 

The committe was formed by:

The proposals were sent to the committe and December the 11th was setteled as the dead-line. The final results are the following:

    The following applicants are appointed for an allocation grant if they wish and might get a full grant if we get additional funding, which is not sure at the present moment.

The rest of the applicants are invited to attend the conference but unfortunately we will not be able to supply any financial support since to get the present funds has not been very easy.

The full grants include the following (unless very specific cases that will be directly contacted):

• 8 nights (June 20th to 28th) allocation at the García Cabrera student residence in triple run with full board.
• Registration Fee (without proceedings).
• An Iberia, Spanair or Air Europa plane ticket from the nearest place to your home.

Iberia is currently flying from several cities like Vienna, Istambul, Moscow, Venice, Santiago de Chile, Buenos Aires or Berlin. If you could get cheaper flights to Tenerife with other companies we will not complain of course.
