The city of La Laguna is the ancient capital of the Canaries. Founded in 1496 just after the conquest of Tenerife. It is a National Monument and has been appointed to the UNESCO as a Humankind Patrimony. The city is still the home to the University, the oldest of the Canaries with 200 years of history. It is located at 600 m above sea level in the middle of a fertile valley surrounded by mountains.
