Experimental Sense in Galileo’s Early Work and its Likely Sources

It is clear that early in the first decade of his career, 1585-95, Galileo had already acquired a keen capacity for and intuitive sense of "experimental research". Here I would reflect on the nature of this relatively new activity, document its existence in Galileo's early work, and suggest some of its parentage in his 16th century environment.
