Abstract

Nowadays, Gravitational Lensing is one of the most important tools in astrophysics and cosmology. This phenomenon allows, among others, constraining cosmological parameters and making predictions which let us test models of distribution of matter in the universe. We assume the Press-Schecter formalism to describe the distribution of dark halos of galaxy clusters and we study the probability of gravitational lensing in multiple image systems. The light propagation is described in the Eikonal approximation but in the focusing term the smoothness parameter is a function of the cosmological redshift. We make special emphasis in the effect of considering the dependence of smoothness parameter on z as a mechanism to bring in the evolution of structure in the universe in the gravitational lensing statistics by galaxy clusters.
