Consistency of a GL(3,R) gauge formulation for topological massive gravity
Rolando Gaitan

Abstract

Among the known lagrangian terms which provide massive degrees of freedom to gravity, we focus our attention on a Chern-Simons term in 2+1 dimention, preserving (up to a boundary term) gauge, diffeomorfism and conformal symmetries. We consider the inclusion of this type of term in a Yang-Mills formulation of gravity [1] with a cosmological contribution, based on a principal fiber bundle of GL(3,R) lie group and with a not necessarily torsionless base space [2]. There, we explore consistence showing that Deser-Jackiw-Templeton formulation is contained in this type of construction and excitations must be causal.
