It is located in the center of La Laguna, and everybody in the town
will be able to show you how to find it. As explained in a previous message,
the hotel rooms were reserved for the nights September 5th.-18th, both
included. If you will arrive earlier or depart after these dates, send
us a message in order to extend the room reservation. However, we can not
subsidize the accommodation of those extra days.

Lectures:
--------
The
lectures of the 12th. EADN School "SELECTED TOPICS ON BINARY STARS" will
take place in the "Aula Magna" of the Faculties of Physics and Mathematics,
in the Campus Anchieta of Universidad de La Laguna. It is a big white building,
easy to be recognized by a small telecope dome in the roof. It is at about
10 minutes walking to the Hotel Nivaria. The scheduling for the first day
is:
08:30 - 09:30 a.m. : registration, at
the main entrance of the Faculty of Physics.
09:30 - 10:00 a.m. : welcome addresses.
10:00 - 11:00 a.m. : first lecture by J. Smak
11:00 - 11:30 a.m.: coffee break
11:30 - 13:30 a.m.: lectures by T. Marsh and R. Hilditch.
13:30 - 15:00 p.m.: lunch
15:00 - 16:00 p.m.: lecture by R. Hilditch
Please check the Time Table in the web page of the EADN school for any
possible change. We will try to be in contact with you at the time of your
arrival to the hotel, during Sunday September 5 th.

Travel information:
--------------
There are many charter flights as well as scheduled flights operating several
times daily from most spanish and european cities. Tenerife is regularly
connected to 16 foreign airports and has direct charter flights with more
than 112 foreign cities. There are two airports on the island of Tenerife,
one on the north side ( Tenerife Norte ,
TFN
,
also known as "Aeropuerto de Los Rodeos"
),
and the other on the south of the island ( Tenerife
Sur ,
TFS ,
also known as "Aeropuerto Reina Sofia"
).
Both airports are at about 2.5 hours flying from Madrid, or about 3 hours
from Barcelona. Most international flights go to Tenerife Sur Airport (TFS),
while most domestic flights go to Tenerife Norte Airport (TFN). Three airlines
fly scheduled flights from the spanish mainland: Iberia, Air Europa and
Spanair.

Getting to the hotel:
Unfortunately the EADN school will not be able to provide transportation
from any of the airports to the hotel in La Laguna. Transport on the island
relies mainly on public transport (buses) and taxis. Taxis are relatively
inexpensive compared to european standards. The local bus company is called
TITSA, and the public buses are painted bright green. The local name for
for the bus is "guagua" or "autobus". There is a telephone number (+34
922 531 300) where you can request more information (24 hours information
in both languages English and Spanish). More information on TITSA bus lines

If you are arriving at Tenerife North Airport (TFN, Los Rodeos):
You
could catch a bus to La Laguna, but we recomend to use a taxi, as TFN is
very close to La Laguna. It will cost about 700 pts. from the airport to
the hotel.

If you are arriving at Tenerife Sur Airport (TFS):
You
can either catch a taxi (about 7000 pts. from the airport to the hotel
in La Laguna), but more probably you will prefer to go by bus to Santa
Cruz (main bus terminal).

Maybe
you find convenient to catch a taxi from here to the hotel in La Laguna.
It will cost about 1000 pts. If you prefer a cheaper possibility, you can
use bus transportation from Santa Cruz to La Laguna. Bus services are as

There
are several bus lines departing from the Sta. Cruz bus terminal to different
places, stopping in La Laguna. Price of one way ticket: 150 pts.

The
buses will stop in the main bus terminal in La Laguna, at about 15 minutes
walking to the hotel Nivaria. If you take a taxi from the bus terminal
to the hotel, you will pay about 300 pts.

IBERIA, as Official Carrier of the EADN school,
offers reduced rates for those attending the school: 25 % discount of the
full air fare (Bussiness or Tourist), for flights between Tenerife and
european cities. The tickets can only be used within two days earlier and
two days after the school.
