The following increased offer of hotel places is available. The prices are confirmed prices for the conference. All prices are in Pesetas and include all local taxes, but not drinks with meals; there are no hidden extras in the bill. You will only need to make an additional payment for room service, for extra meals and for telephone calls. The current exchange rate is approximately $1 USD = 155 Ptas. Please note that the hotels listed here are comparatively expensive by local standards ($ USD 50-75 per night for a single room). We will announce cheaper hotel accomodation in due course for those travellers on a very limited budget.

Alongside the conference centre in Parque Taoro. This hotel of 140 rooms offers a good level of accomodation at a reasonable price. Maximum of 40 double rooms available.

This hotel is on a hill overlooking the coast and the centre of the town. The town centre and the seafront are an easy walk away, although the return journey, uphill, requires you to be fairly fit. Taxis are quite cheap (there is a standard minimum urban tarif of 300 Ptas) and are recommended for short trips.

This hotel is slightly further away, but offers a rather higher standard of comfort and customer service. Think in terms of a 10-15 minute walk to and from the conference centre. Maximum of 5 double rooms available.

Located in Parque Taoro also. Offers 250 double rooms and 10 single rooms. Breakfast buffet. Buffet-restaurant. Snack-bar. Pool. Pool bar. Discotheque. TV room. Card room. Mini-bus to the centre, 5 days a week.

• Bed & Breakfast: means that the room price includes the cost of accomodation plus the standard hotel breakfast; you pay for the breakfast whether or not you take it at the hotel!

• Half board: means that your room price includes breakfast and dinner taken at the hotel.

• Full board: means that all meals are included.

For practical reasons it has been decided that all conferences will be handled by a local Travel Agent. The company selected is Carlson Wagonlit Travel, located in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

International flights and a few domestic flights go to Tenerife South Airport, TFS (often called Reina Sofia). To get from Reina Sofia Airport to Puerto de la Cruz requires a journey around approximately two-thirds of the island (about 100 km.) as the motorway has not yet been extended down the western coast of Tenerife.

There is an very approximately hourly coach service from the airport to Santa Cruz, with connections for Puerto de la Cruz. It is, however, much quicker and comparatively little more expensive for a group to take a taxi.

Most domestic flights go to Tenerife North Airport, TFN (Los Rodeos). Most people travelling on scheduled flights will go to Madrid or Barcelona and then will need to connect with a domestic flight to Los Rodeos Airport. This airport is much closer to Puerto de la Cruz (25 km.) and much more convenient. Three national airlines fly scheduled flights in from the mainland: Iberia, Air Europa and Spanair. These airlines are fiercely competitive in tarifs, so it is worth asking your travel department to check rival offers, although the IAC normally works with Iberia (the state airline).

There is a half-hourly express bus service from Los Rodeos to Puerto de la Cruz although a taxi is again competitive for a small group.

If you plan to form a travelling group, please advise Wagonlit Travel so that they can make the arrangements to meet you with transport.

We expect to arrange coach transport to meet the flights from Madrid airport on Saturday -January 31- and Sunday -February 1- evenings (according to the exact level of demand). Other flights may be met if the numbers demand it.

Please book your flights early! Flights from Madrid and Barcelona to Tenerifecan be extremely heavily booked at certain times of the year. Particularly if you want to be on one of the flights which is met at the airport, you should ensure that you make your reservation as far in advance as possible. We have selected a date for the conference that avoids important public holidays and the local Carnival, but cannot promise that seats will be available at short notice.
