The 2026 ExGal-Twin Regional Meeting is an event jointly organised by the ExGal-Twin project and the Research and Knowledge Transfer Support Unit (AIT) of the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC), in collaboration with the Canary Islands Agency for Research, Innovation and Information Society (ACIISI). The meeting will take place on 23 September 2026, at the IAC headquarters in Tenerife.

Under the title "Innovation in European Project Management (II): AI and New Trends," the meeting's main objective is to bring together R&I entities from across the Canary Islands to foster the exchange of experiences, best practices and innovative approaches to European project management. Throughout the day, participants will have the opportunity to receive training on AI and learn how it is being applied at other institutions, such as the University of Groningen in the Netherlands.

This free event is open to R&I entities across the Canary Islands and aims to create a dynamic space for learning and collaboration.

ABOUT EXGAL-TWIN

ExGal-Twin , acronym for Excellence in Galaxies – Twinning the IAC, is a European initiative (Coordination and Support Action) under the WIDERA programme of Horizon Europe, Twinning action ( HORIZON-WIDERA-2023-ACCESS-02-01 ). Its main objective is to strengthen the IAC's research capacity, profile and impact in the field of galaxies through strategic partnerships with three internationally renowned institutions:

The project is coordinated by the IAC, led by Principal Investigator Prof. Johan Knapen and Project Manager Laura Riba, with the collaboration of 40 researchers from the IAC's extragalactic research area. Beyond promoting collaborative research and developing strategies to increase competitiveness and ensure sustainable improvements, the project also aims to strengthen the IAC's capabilities in key areas such as high-level project management, administration and strategic skills development. It will further drive advances in excellence and best practices, which will be shared with public and private entities across the Canary Islands.

The Canary Islands Agency for Research, Innovation and Information Society (ACIISI)  is the Public Administration body of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands responsible for promoting research and scientific and technological development, business innovation, and the deployment of telecommunications infrastructure and information society services.
